An innovative initiative which aims to help refugee and immigrant children in need, reaching them in the camps and the countries they immigrated to. The Emirate of Sharjah was chosen by UNESCO as the World Book Capital for 2019 for its tremendous efforts to make reading available to as many people as possible. UNESCO's World Book Capitals Program is an initiative launched in 1996 that seeks to encourage and promote publishing activities at the local and global levels by nominating the best year-long city program to support book reading.
